My first visit was four months ago, and since then my life has changed drastically…I am a completely different person…
About a year ago, I was having a lot of problems with pain throughout my entire body.  It seemed like everything hurt from my neck down to my feet.  I saw my doctor, and he ordered some tests.  Those tests prompted visits to specialists ranging from a urologist to a neurologist.  At one point a physical therapist told me that I’d have to walk with a cane!  Finally, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.  The diagnosis came from a neurologist who told me I should try yoga.  At 27 years old, I was not satisfied with that response!  Most days I hurt so bad and was so tired that I couldn’t do much of anything.  Dr. Frazetta came to my school, where I am a first grade teacher.  For the first time I was able to understand where my pain was coming from, and what could be done to provide some relief.  My first visit was four months ago, and since then my life has changed drastically…I am a completely different person…not only does my body feel better, but my attitude has improved, and I can deal with stress much better.  My chiropractic experience not only changed my body, it changed my life and for that, I am eternally grateful.  –  Alexis

The diagnosis of fibromyalgia is typically given to someone who has definite health problems for which medical doctors can give no definitive diagnosis.  Studies have found that fibromyalgia sufferers have abnormally high amounts of substance P in the spinal fluid, and therefore feel more pain than the average person at similar levels of stimulation. Other chemical hallmarks of this disorder include low serotonin, too much cortisol, not enough growth hormone, and beta-endorphin levels about half of normal. All of these hormone levels are controlled by glands which are controlled by the autonomic nervous system.
Chiropractic and Fibromyalgia
A chiropractors’ primary goal is to normalize the function of the nervous system by removing interference. Proper communication between the brain and body ensures increased body function. Dr. Fredrick Wolfe, a respected rheumatologist and well-known investigator of fibromyalgia, found patients received more benefit from lifestyle modifications than from medical interventions. In his study chiropractic scored among the most effective treatments with 45.9% reporting great improvement and only 16.2% reporting no improvement. Yet another preliminary study in 2014 found a direct link between severity of Fibromyalgia and the health and the function of the spine.  They found that a spinal adjustment improved the quality of life and symptoms in patients suffering from Fibromyalgia along with improved pain, sleep quality, depression, mood and other Fibromyalgia related symptoms.
