Memory Loss is the Most Common Fear of Aging

th75hhas82If you can’t find your way home and negotiate life’s challenges then it really doesn’t matter how rich, beautiful or smart you are because you will have no idea of any of it anyway.

The risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease rises sharply with aging.  It doubles every 5 years.  Only 1% of people at age 60 develop it but nearly 20% at age 80 and 40% at 85.

Believe it or not your brain can get smarter as you age.  60% of your brain is fat and capable of performing 1,000 trillion calculation per sec.  New connections are made every time you make a memory.

Prevention is the key so what can we do to slow our cognitive decline?  Well if you don’t use it you lose it; reading, doing puzzles and brain teasers will increase brain function.  T.V. on the other hand doesn’t.

Other Ways to Maintain Your Brain:

  1. Exercise
  2. Eat Well (Mediterranean diet)
  3. Stay Hydrated
  4. Stay Connected Socially
  5. Keep Mentally Active
  6. Supplementation*
  7. Proper Sleep
