I’d Rather Be Fishing

Prescription meds, Chiropractic care

DID YOU HAVE TO PUT YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS IN A TACKLE BOX?

So, do you have to put your prescriptions in a tackle box just to contain them? There was a time where tackle boxes were used to hold fishing gear.  Bobbers, hooks and perhaps your favorite lures all found a home in one of many varying sized, slotted compartments.  Now those boxes are used to hold the multitude of drugs so many seniors are prescribed.  What happened?

HOW IT ALL STARTS…

Here’s how it starts…According to a recent analysis by the IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics, people aged 65-79 receive more than 27 prescriptions for new drugs per year.  YES PER YEAR! It doesn’t start off that high.  One prescription most likely created a side effect which begat the need for another prescription to fix that problem, which begat the need for another and so on and so for, like a bad, chemical ancestral lineage.  Until one day, only a tackle box can “tackle” the volume of meds needed everyday.

SO WHAT ARE WE SAYING?

There ARE still senior citizens who need little to no prescription – they’re vibrant, alert, active and full of life.  It makes you wonder what they did during their lifetime to reap such healthy rewards late in life – most likely spent more time at their favorite fishing hole, than at their doctor’s office.  However, there’s one doctor’s office you want to visit – YOUR CHIROPRACTOR.  Remember we’re here for more than just back pain.  Many of our senior patients have been able to get off of their meds.  How? Because Chiropractic gets to the root of the problem and fixes it, it doesn’t cover it up with prescription meds.
