WHAT IS THE IMMUNE SYSTEM?
LESSON #1
The human body does not have a single immune system however it is , in itself an immune system comprised of:
- Thymus (where immune cells mature)
- Long Bones – Marrow (where the lymphocyte originates)
- Spleen
- Stomach (acid is needed to destroy ingested bacteria, virus and parasites)
- Intestinal Flora (destroys pathogenic microbes)
** It has been said that 60-70% of our immune system is in our gut!
So, looking at that list of organs that make up your immune system you can see why your nervous system must be functioning at it’s best for you to fight off disease. Why is that? Because your nervous system controls the functions of all those organs. And that’s why periodic chiropractic adjustments are essential to keep your body and your immune system functioning the way it was designed. If your nervous system is compromised from nerve pressure on your spine, then your immune system will not function at it’s best.
The take away from this first lesson is to help your understand that we need to treat the whole person, not just the disease process. Your diet, lifestyle, environment, nervous system and occupational exposure must be assessed if we are to truly optimize one’s health. This week I want you to take a close look at your diet and lifestyle and see where healthier changes can be made.
I will give you a hint…start cutting back on SUGARS… we will be discussing this more in next week’s email, but I figured I would give you a head start. Also, if it’s been a while since your last adjustment (over 3 months) then give us a call and we will check your spine for nerve interference.
